Bressani, an Italian Jesuit, joined the Canadian missions in 1642. These “brief reports” discuss the difficulties of establishing missions among the native peoples of Canada and describe the travails of several Jesuit missionaries. Included is Bressani’s own tale of capture and torture by the Hurons.
