Loyola Anthem

loyolauanthem,1933.jpg
Sheet music for "Loyola Anthem," written in 1931.

The first Loyola Anthem resulted from the collaboration of Raymond Bellock, SJ, faculty member, and Mr. Walter Dellers, director of instrumental music in 1933. After Loyola disbanded the varsity football team, it was decided that the university needed an anthem to replace the fight songs sung at the game. Fr. Bellock wrote the words and Mr. Dellers, the music.
